Master of Accounting & Financial Management

The Master of Accounting and Financial Management (MAFM) program offers students a choice of two professional certification exam-preparation emphases — Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) — as well as a Certified Fraud Examiner emphasis.

Total program length varies depending on the number of courses taken per session. Each session is eight weeks.

Note: Credits and degrees earned from this institution do not automatically qualify the holder to participate in professional licensing exams to practice certain professions. Persons interested in practicing a regulated profession should contact the appropriate state regulatory agency for their field of interest.

CPA Exam-Preparation Emphasis

The MAFM program with CPA exam-preparation emphasis requires successful completion of 16 courses (45 semester-credit hours total), including six accounting foundations courses; five program core courses, including an integrative capstone course; four CPA exam-preparation courses; as well as one accounting or finance elective.

Students who are licensed CPAs or who have passed all four parts of the CPA exam are exempt from AC591, AC592, AC593 and AC594, thus reducing the number of courses required for graduation (see Course Exemptions). Students are granted these exemptions in addition to those allowed as described in Transfer Credit, Course Waivers and Course Exemptions. Students who hold an undergraduate accounting degree may be eligible to waive one or more of the accounting foundations courses; however, each course waived must be replaced with an elective course (see Course Waivers). Electives may be selected from courses listed under Course Offerings/Descriptions in any combination that best serves students' professional and personal interests. MAFM students may waive a maximum of six courses.

CPA exam-preparation courses are of varying length; the length for all other courses is eight weeks per course.
